If your relocation partner has all of these abilities, you greatly increase your chance of completing your relocation on time, on budget and with minimal disturbance to the business:
Does the relocation partner provide a dedicated project manager
available before, during and after the move?
Does the partner have technicians employed that are experienced in moving IT assets?
Does the partner know what Original Equipment Manufacturers require when moving their equipment, and have partnerships with them to ensure that your support agreements are not voided when moving the equipment?
Will the partner track our assets as they are in transit?
Does the partner have a range of transportation modes and vehicles sufficient to meet our needs?
Does the partner provide the same level of services on a national or global basis?
Does the partner provide adequate insurance coverage to meet your needs?
Does the partner provide a communication plan to keep users, IT staff and organizational leaders informed?
Does the relocation partner use anti-static wrapping specially designed for IT equipment?
Does the partner have an extensive ecosystem to help you with all apsects of the relocation projects from planning to decommissioning the old facility?
If you cannot check all the boxes, seriously consider finding a professional services provider that specializes in IT moves and has extensive experience working in data centers with IT equipment.
